TOOTH CIRCULATION: Control -- Temperature
TEMPERATURE
1. The pulp has good thermal insulation, due to enamel and dentine covering the crown, and dentine and supporting tissue covering the root; however, sustained tooth surface temperature change will eventually change tooth pulp temperature (few minutes)
2. Normal tooth pulp temperature: 35-37 C

3. Effect of temperature changes
cool vasoconstrict: blood flow decrease
heat vasodilate: blood flow increase
high heat injury vascular stasis
(> 45-50 C) (blood flow stops)
