Dr. Henry Wieman's syllabus notes on physiological and medical aspects of aging. Dr. Wieman is a faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. I think you will find these notes practical and useful.
National Institute on Aging home page. The National Institute on Aging is the NIH division principally responsible for aging research. "NIA promotes healthy aging by conducting and supporting biomedical, social, and behavioral research and public education. This site contains which may be useful to your patients who have questions about age-related illnesses."
American Geriatrics Society home page. The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) "is a nationwide association of geriatrics health care professionals, research scientists, and other concerned individuals dedicated to improving the health, independence and quality of life of all older people".
Geriatrics and Aging is a journal that publishes reviews of the treatment and care of the elderly patient.

Hooyman, N and Kiyak, HA: Social Gerontology, 4th ed. 1996. Chapter 5, "The social consequences of biological aging", is required reading. Chapter 6, "Sensory changes and their social consequences", is optional but advised.
